Should punk4punks get rid of skate punk like nofx and pennywise? If so, what bands should replace them?

Skate Punk like Pennywise was kinda what started punk, wasn't it? To remove Pennywise from punk would be like removing a diaper from a baby.

I wouldn't say that it is was started punk.. but I think they have definatly shaped the definintion of the punk music we all enjoy. Punk roots go a lot further back than Pennywise. That is just my two cents anyway.

Sorry for the delayed response guys. I couldn't agree with you more. Punk was revived with music like pennywise and nofix but was not started with nofx and pennywise. With that said I will not take out most if any of the music classified as skate punk. Thanks for the responses.Smile I'll try being on my own forum more often. Embarassed

Well skate punk was actually punk at one time; it was supposed to be rebellious until loving American corporations saw this as a profitable fad. Today skater punk is 12 year olds walking around in Vans over priced clothing. Pennywise and NOFX are great bands but corporations ruined the name of them. But Pennywise and NOFX weren't even all about skate boarding, NOFX was more against religion and Pennywise was more focused on problems in society and authority. I don't really want to hear Pennywise and NOFX called "skater punk" because that name was ruined along time ago.

I dont like them.. if someone have songs, which are against political system, he is not automaticaly a punker. If you can reduce them, it will be better.
