I don't know where to post this but i think it's funny so I feel the need to post it.
During Warped Tour NOFX would make fun of christians and then insult UnderOath for being christian. UnderOath dropped off the tour early and didn't say why, so of course all their fans turned to NOFX and said it was their fault. Fat Mike heard about people blaming them so posted a thing on the internet talking about how he only insults his friends and when Warped started he went up to them and they became friends though they have different belives. (Some members of UnderOath are even against gay marrage.) He said that the band dropped of the tour because they wanted to stay friends and take some time away from each other.
Interesting story I did not know underoath is a christian band. Well that goes to show you how much I know about the music scene . I actually would be pissed if I heard Nofx making fun of christians. Bigots fucking piss me off ! If bigots are too fucking stupid to realize we are all different they are probably to fucking stupid to live among people. Sorry I just really get pissed off at people making fun of other people for race or religion.

I think NOFX just don't like them because of the over Christian ones. Like the ones that hate jewish people. Im just guessing this because of their songs, like Leaving Jesus Land, which, is referance to america.

Didn't bad religion do a song like that called, American Jesus?

Yes, Bad Religion did make a song called American Jesus and NOFX has the song Leaving Jesus Land. I don't think they are specifically making fun of christians as a whole. It goes out more to the "super-christians." Those christians who belive so whole heartedly belive that they are the only people who have morals or know what is right for the world. I feel these songs are meant for the christians who feel they need to save the world by preaching about their god and forcing their religion on others. If these people are really so high and mighty, why are they fighting wars and killing people in the name of christianity. These songs, probably much like the things that NOFX said at Warped Tour, are meant to make people think. The statements probably weren't meant to be biggotrous (my own word ), more social commentary on the religiously brainwashed state of society. It is to the smug little shit heads who preach about tolerance and want to ban gay marriage only because the bible says so. If they really knew what they were talking about they would know that in the same chapter (Leviticus) it says that a person shall not wear clothing woven of more than one material. I guess its time to start banning poly-cotten blends too.

Sorry, I didnt mean to go into some crazy ran about religion. I just feel that religion shouldn't play a part in anything. If you are religous then you are, if your not, then you're not. Thats all it needs to be. Let your convictions be your convictions.
I say an interview with Fat Mike talking about UnderOath, and my favourite line he said was,"The two guys that arn't homophobes are realy nice guys." And I couldnt find the link to the page of what Fat Mike says but here is what he says.
"Sorry folks, as much as I do like controversy, there really isn't any to report on this subject. Underoath have left the Warped Tour, and as much as people want to give me credit for that, the truth is they just really needed a break apparently. Some people have suggested that they bailed because I made too much fun of them (I kinda did). Problem with that theory is that I have made fun of plenty of bands on this tour i.e. Against Me, the Blackhearts, Anti-Flag, Sherwood, The Acadamy Is, Thursday, Less Than Jake, Rise Against, etc. I have also taken plenty of jabs at Christians, Jews, Buddhists, and Muslims.
I feel I am an equal opportunist when it comes to getting laughs from an easy target. One thing I really try not to do is make fun of bands that I'm not friends with. That*s why two days into the tour, I introduced myself to the Underoath guys and we have been friendly ever since. Of course we have some differences. They tend to not believe in evolution, dinosaurs, reproductive rights, premarital sex, or gay marriage. Some of them don't even like looking at porn (that*s just crazy). The point is, at some point I sat down with most of them and had quite a few discussions about a lot of these issues.
Every talk we had was civil and respectful and no matter how wrong I think a few of those guys are, there were never any hard feelings between us. They*re actually really nice dudes. Maybe on their summer break they could spend some time reading some other books, instead of just the one." - Fat Mike
Thanks KitLo for clearing that up. I was just glad to hear that no one on this forum started a pissing match on who's religion is the best and who's isn't. That seems to be one of those topics that gets really out of hand if it is not stopped soon enough. Not that I don't give a shit about free speech I just hate bigotist speech.

i agree with CB, what the fuck does it matter what religion, race or creed they are, as long as their punk kicks ass ...if it doesn't, then i will rip on any band no matter what they believe or preach
Christians or not if their screamo or emo they pretty much suck. I can tolerate only so much screamo and I can't stand emo. Although, as a screamo band, they are pretty good which isn't saying much.

i think that anyone that believes in hate or bigotry is an asswipe regardless of what their excuse is. personally i think it's awesome NOFX gave them shit for that! i hate it when i hear people talking a lot of hateful shit and using jesus (or buddha or moses or whoever's) name as the justification. personally i'm atheist but people do what they need to do to get through the day, so long as they aren't persecuting other people or trying to "convert" me i let them be. buuut if someone presents me with a song about their beliefs and i don't agree with it, i'll probably make fun of them. bwahahaha
I agree that it is definitly bullshit when a christian says hateful shit or if a buddhist says violent mean shit or etc. They should be put in their place if they are trying to mask their actions behind a deity and not actually practicing what they preach. But in the same regard if someone wanted to sing songs about pagan beliefs or atheism I am not going to give them shit about it. It is when someone starts singing that such and such religion is shit that I get pissed off. I for one am not an atheist or pagan but I will listen to any kinda of punk that does sing about atheism(Sorry if I am spelling that wrong) like bad religion or any other belief system for that matter. What I am trying to say is that it comes off very ignorant when one is a hypocrite or hateful no matter what religion. I am always impressed when a group of people can unite together regardless of sex, religion, or age to fight against injustice. Such as war or political corruption. To me that is what punk is all about.
