Unspoken rules are probably the hardest for me to follow and the biggest thing that pisses me off(almost as much as bigotery). I would like to hear what you guys think of unspoken rules. What is the worst unspoken rule you have picked up on and how much of a role does it play in your lives?

There's a few unspoken rules I end up breaking like persuing an ex bfs friend (infront of him nonetheless), taking someones last cigg, or letting out a really killer burp. But none of that bothers me that bad.
The only unspoken rule that makes me tick is someone calling themselves fat infront of me. It sucks to be pissed off on the inside cause I can't say, "then what do you think I look like?". I guess its one of those brainfucks.
Or bringing up religion. I think it's rude & no one likes being schooled on the "right" way to have faith in something.[/i]
Lots of random ones at skate parks. Like, when theres no signs saying "No Bikes" so then some kids on bikes will go right in front of you and have no respect to skaters. SAme with skooterers. But they're like 5, so you cant yell at them.
Usually unspoken rules are rules that dictate whether you belong. Such as having the right skateboard or dressing the right way. Some of those I can kinda understand because it would be strange to see a goth skater. It is when you can't say a certain thing or act a certain way without getting shit that unspoken rules become useless. It would be much better if people would allow other people the freedom to think and do what they want as long as they are not hurting others. Fads suck and fitting in to clicks suck as well when the clicks do not allow for personal freedom. Even if they are punk clicks. Fads or people should never dictate your actions!

the media likes to turn any kind of group or movement into something they can sell, so goth and punk aren't what they once were. i remember seeing kids dressing up as marilyn manson on talk shows and i knew that was the end of goth ahahaha. as a teenager, the younger punks who were around my age were very "scenester" about being punks, and as an adult i see that very little has changed. because of the ideologies of those who identify with the punk movement, there is an aggressive style of dress, as well due to the high fashion image created by malcolm mclaren and vivienne westwood and now a days, hot topic. it's funny now however that the ideas and attitude have softened. many of the people that were punks in my generation still sport the look (on weekends) but now own houses/condos/have kids/corporate jobs/drive suvs. could be a class thing... granted not everyone is like that and i think that's what marks the difference between who is "authentic" and who is not.. the "authentic" people will never challenge someones identification based on trivial material things.. but they might call them a poser if they are being hypocritical (claiming punk rock but buying hot topic clothes made in overseas sweatshops and over the counter cosmetics tested on animals).

dresscodes. For example, i can't go to relatives birthdays or funerals or certain pubs looking the way i do. people expect everyone to fit in the same mold and that really bugs me though i really don't give a flying fuck what other people think.
