Bands you would like punk4punks to play

We have had some excellent suggestions on bands. My favorites were flatliners, the virus, kid dynamite, anti-dote, and cheap sex. The reason these were my favorites was that I have heard very little to none of these bands music. Please help punk4punks by suggesting bands. Preferably bands that are not being played on punk4punks. If the band is being played, please tell us your favorite cd of the band.
Thanks,

Hi,

I'm listening Tsunami Bomb right now and I think it would cool to hear them on punk4punks.

You can hear some here: http://www.tsunamibomb.com/

what about dritte wahl from germany?
some good quality stuff, should be a great addition to your playlist

I will try to add both of these bands to p4p in the future.

Does P4P play any Ataris? They were singed to Fat Wreck Chords for a while. There really new stuff sucks ass, but some of their old stuff was pretty dope pop punk.

Yeah the reason we didn't play Ataris on punk4punks is that Ataris were pretty syrupy. But if their new stuff is harder we will look into buying some of their new stuff to see if it is any good.

First for obvious ones: Ramones (c'mon, they started it all!), ALL
Now less obvious ones: The Arsons, Paint It Black, Only Crime
Just as an aside, the first time I looked through Shoutcast stations, I looked for punk, found this, and the song playing was Back to the World by the Street Dogs, I knew this station was for me Smile

Thanks for the recommendation of those bands. I haven't heard of a lot of those bands so its going to be nice to shop for some new bands. As for the ramones, I will get a best of cd next month and play some of their songs. Thanks again,

Thanks for the offer on hosting space. I also appreciate the fact that you listed albums with artists. That makes it much easier to get songs. I am going to check out the albums listed and try to add some songs from them. It does take me a while since I get a lot of music which takes both time and money to get good songs from them. Currently the tech that works on stuff is going to move so that will take even more of my time. I will start working on the list of music you provided and that others provided this month.
Thanks,

i'm new here, but have been listening to this station for a while...
i like the station, i really do. some older music i think that would be sweet would be:
----------------------
against all authority
link 80
knowledge - a gift before i go
----------------------
you may have them already, but dont think i have heard it... hell, they might not even fit into the P4P genre due to use of horns.

dont think i heard any boy sets fire as well... but i leave my desk often.

Hey Guys,

I have collected most of those bands for download with only a few exceptions. It will take me a while for me to listen to the albums but I will get up some new stuff as soon as possible.

Music to play

Hey...love the station, but why is it so NOFX and Tim Armstrong centric? Don't get me wrong, I love NoFX and everything conneted to Armstrong (Op Ivy, Rancd Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, Transplants and the Distillers) but why so much?

My suggestion? More Propagandhi, Sex Pistols, Nekromantix, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Nerf Herder, Millencolin, Good Riddance, Ten Foot Pole, Randy, Queers, Descendents, ALL and Pinhead Gunpowder

Thanks guys....awesome station. PRC may have been dethroned!
admin

I guess I never thought about it but you might be right. We may be centered on nofx and rancid but the way I look at it, we got a pretty good arrangement of songs involving other artists. The reason it is centered around those artists, is that, the artists that we like usually have more songs that are good such as casualties, unseen, lars frederiksen, and nofx from my point of view. We will think about adding some of those artists. I have a lot of music to sample so it may take a while to add the music you requested. Thanks for the feedback and requests

Admin

Sweet...thanks.

It's hard not to have a lot of NOFX/Rancid tracks, they have so many project and albums with great songs.

I just found this today and it is great listening while at work. As far as bands I would suggest:
Bombshell Rocks: Especially FROM HERE AND ON
The Living End - All very good, check out the newest STATE OF EMERGENCY
Dillinger Four - These guys rock! Get SITUATIONIST COMEDY right away
The Frustrators - Like these guys a lot, more rock than punk but still great

Its kind of amazing how many bad songs and good songs nofx has. Rancid on the other hand has a lot of good songs and just ok songs. I will look into getting some of these bands. I think that I already have the bombshell rocks album but am not sure. Its been hard to add songs of late cause I have very limited funds and time and have been getting some seriously shitty albums. But with your guys's suggestions it will make it easier to find some good songs.

Besides being a bane on society, myspace is a great place to get a little listen to bands before you buy their stuff. I would say listen to the bands songs on their profiles, don't even need an account, and buy whatever cds sound the best.

And yeah nofx has a lot of songs, is the decline on here or is it just way too long?

I never thought of using my space. I cancelled my napster account but I am going to resubscribe to that so that I can sample large amounts of music for a low cost. The decline is too long. We usually don't have songs over 5 minutes.

Admin
Midget186

Aww, and I love The Decline too. Definatly too long though for a station though.

Back at a job where I can listen to music, joy. So I came accross this place while browsing through Shoutcast and am enjoying it. Then I saw this topic and thought I'd throw 2 cents in.

Gogol Bordello

Amazing band (Probably my favorite) and Gypsy Punks Underdog World Strike is a great albulm... but then all of them so far are.

60 Revolutions and Start Wearing Purple are good songs to start with if you havn't heard of them.

Other posters have pretty much covered other bands I would have mentioned.
admin

Gypsy Punk

I got one of there albums but was never to hot on putting it on the station. Seemed to quirky and not enough punk.
Admin
heartless

^^ Have to agree with you on that sentiment, not really punkrock. I really like mindless self indulgence and they have the mentality of a punk band but I don't think they would fit very well on this station.
Midget186

Now that you mention it, your right, I agree they would be fairly out of place compared to everything else.
Midget186

Alright, got another suggestion; ever heard anything from Throw Rag? Saw them open for Flogging Molly in Toronto one year. They were very awesome, one member played a washer-board! ...too bad he left and not on the new album.

Anyway, 13.ft and Rising is there newest album, Desert Shores has the washer-board still. Both full of good stuff.

By the way, I like lots of the new stuff you've added to the play list.

I looked this up on emusic and they have 2 of the albums you listed. I will listen to it and see what I think and if anything is decent I'll post it when I post the rest of the new music. Thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't listened to the mad caddies in a long time. I will look em up and see if there is some songs to add from them. Thanks for the comment.

zombeast

Id like to recommend any song by Zombeast.
They have only one self titled album out and is some kind of horror punk.

Other stuff i would like to hear is:

The Manges - Go Down
Cobra Skulls - Sitting Army
Societys Parasites - Self titled
Nerve Agents - Days Of The White Owl

Would also be cool with some older stuff from the Dickies, Casualties, Black Flag

Good job, thanks for blasting my speakers everyday.
admin

I'll check those guys out. I'll also see what I can do for getting some of those songs. Thanks for the comment.

nomeansno?  i know, they're not strictly hardcore punk but their hardcore is awesome to behold.  for starters:

+ "dad"

+ "teresa, give me that knife"

+ "dead souls"

+ "the day everything became nothing"

+ "the night nothing became everything"

+ "i think you know"

and virtually every song from the album WRONG (not "the end of all things" or "all lies").

great band.

nomeansno

I was listening to the album wrong and was thinking of putting a couple of the their songs on the station.  Although most of the songs I am not to hot on.

We already play some flatliners, which turned to more hardcore, and less than jake but we will most likely not play the mad caddies.  I appreciate the comment.  I personally am glad that we have had the opportunity to inform others of great punk bands.

I would listen Ska-P a spanish band of ska-punk
scrounger

Not sure how well all of these fit into the format you're looking for and they're also more commonly known bands but figured I'd toss 'em in anyway:

The Vandals (Ex: Anarchy Burger, Urban Struggle, The Legend of Pat Brown)
Riverboat Gamblers (Ex: True Crime)
Toy Dolls (Ex: Chenky Is A Puff)
Authority Zero (Ex: Revolution)
Zebrahead (Ex: Anthem, Two Wrongs Dont Make a Right)

Just some others that have way too much stuff to list:
Pennywise
Black Flag
Anti Flag
The Distillers
Offspring
Bad Religion
MXPX
Bad Brains
Bouncing Souls

Osaka Popstar

Oh ya, just remembered a CD I have.  Osaka Popstar.  Album is "Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk".

John Cafiero – Lead Vocals
Jerry Only (The Misfits) – Bass
Dez Cadena (Black Flag, The Misfits) – Lead Guitar
Ivan Julian (The Voidoids) – Rhythm Guitar
Marky Ramone (Ramones, The Voidoids, Dust) – Drums

They've got some unique but fun stuff.

I SO MUCH LOVE THE MUSIC U PLAY HERE! you've introduced me to soooo much good music!! I listen every night I work!

I just wanted to add some other good bands that I think fit the M.O. of this station (punk energy, punk politics) -- I'd love to see some of this stuff played (not sure they all fit the general/default PUNK format but I'd consider them all worthy of airplay) ;;

refused

fugazi
the dwarves
pinkerton thugs
INDK

(more) propagandhi

one more to add: star fucking hipsters (just heard this today, I like it!)

Just found this place, since I just discovered Fungus died... My XM radio is at the bottom of Halifax harbour, not entirely due to Fungus dying... the unit was dying, so I thought it'd be a grand statement to launch it off the flight deck of my ship one night while I was duty.

And then Fungus died.

And now I'm sailing for a month so I can't even listen to this bloody station! But I know it'll be here when I get back. Very Happy

We need to hear more Toy Dolls. More Turbonegro. Much, much more Turbonegro. How about some Hi-Standard? (I actually had an mp3 of Hi-Standard covering Ice Ice Baby, it was the most amazing thing ever, but I'll be damned if I can find it again.)

Anyways... keep it up... I'll be pissed off if I come home and find there's no more p4p. =D

Re: Bands you would like punk4punks to play

Just heard a few bands I wasn't familiar with that might fit in.  First is "I-Spy".  Canadian punk that goes back to '94.

http://www.myspace.com/ispyofficial

Second one is a more Latina flare and if you like Tsunami Bomb, you might like Go Betty Go.

http://www.myspace.com/gobettygo

Forget if you already played these guys but there's also another Canadian band called Propagandhi.

To be honest with you I would not have known any difference from anyone else's English if you weren't to have said anything.  With that said, thank you very much on your comment.  We have not had as many comments of late so it is nice to hear we are doing a good job.  I love social d but I have had some really nasty comments about them so I play them sparingly.  Other than that, I will look into some albums by turbonegro.  If they are the band I was thinking of then most likely I won't post any songs but I will keep you informed as to what happens with that.

Thanks again,

Some german bands! Smile

Wizo or Dritte Wahl would be great!
Dritte Wahl has made even an english album and Wizo is found on the Fat Wreck Sampler (with German songs)

or some of the more know bands like Toten Hosen or Ärzte!

Would be great for the listeners in Germany! Smile

btw: dont know where the link under my post come from...?

Last post always gets the spam link. Laughing We did try and put some wizo and other german bands on but the station did not do so well. To be honest with you german music is hard for me to get my hands on and I can't understand what they are saying. This makes it hard to put german music on cause I don't know if it sucks.  Also it is hard to get new music on the station because I have to bring it down everytime and that kills the listener count big time. I will put it on my list to do to get somemore new music but I won't and can't do german punk.
Thanks for the post,

A short list with some good german bands:

"Dritte Wahl" (my favorite band)
album (complete in english): "tooth for tooth"

"Normahl"
song "Bandiera Rossa" from the album "Lebendig II"

"Die Ärzte" (at youtube search for "die aerzte")
nearly everything they made is great... Wink

"Die Toten Hosen"
album (think,  this is in english) "Love, Peace & Money"

I think, all of them have something on YouTube.

Subhumans (Subvert City....BEST....SONG....EVER)
I was going to say Propagandhi...but you played them twice in the last six hours (GREAT and THANK YOU) if you could throw their song Nation States in there at some point that would be cool.

On the flip side...that Millencolin song Brand New Game....what the cock is that $hit?

Thank you. I'd never heard of Millencolin before...to be fair I just listened to another song of theirs called Ray. I hated it too. Perhaps they have good songs that I didn't get to hear yet, but if this is the direction that 'new punk' is going I think I'm going to switch to gangsta rap, dog.
