What is real punk? Is punk a way of life or just music? Can anyone really say without being an elitist? I think punk is just what you make of it, trying to say exactly what punk is misses the point.

Punk is about the music and having a good time, and not listening to what other people tell you to do. What your saying is that "hard core punk" which sucks. Your just into it for the look not about the true music!

This post is mostly not about the person that I am quoting but about those people who think that their punk is real punk and put down other peoples music. This is a real sore spot with me. Everyone should have the freedom to express themselves and those who inhibit the freedom of expression that we all deserve are fasicts and or idiots.
I love all punk for the most part. Some emo sucks hard and is overly formulaic. But some hard core sounds like the same crap over and over again. I guess for me if I listen to it enough it starts to grow on me. Except for Green Day. I can only find one song that I like and I own several of their albums. That doesn't mean that their not punk. It's up to the listener to determine exactly what is punk. Punk is different from person to person. I think saying that emo sucks or that hard core sucks is missing the point. Just because you think it sucks doesn't mean your punk is real punk. Your doing the same thing as they are doing to you, which is, saying your punk is better than their punk and what they listen to is just crap. Punk is about fighting these constructs and also just enjoying the music.

I think that real punk is saying what you want, when you want to say it, and not giving a damn about what anyone will think about it, whether or not it will be popular, and whether or not you'll die on the streets because you gave up your day job to tell the world to go **** itself!
