Topic devoted to music

This topic covers general talk about music and its trends. I have a question for you guys, if warp tour is a comp covering popular punk and newer versions of warp tour comps cover more and more emo/screamo. Does that mean emo/screamo is now becoming more popular? Maybe even more popular than standard punk? If that is true do you see more emo punks than hard core punks?
Just curious

Emo is acualy more popular in high schools than punk. There are skaters, (Not Skaterboys, thats a stupid name Avril Laveen came up with that the media took over)who listen to all the good punk, they're just no all punk, they basicly listen to whatever music, but there are more emo kids, and even MORE Wanksters. Where I live, there is little to no hard-core punks.

What are Wanksters? What is your favorite aspect of punk rock? I think one of the reasons the lifestyle of a hard-core punk is not sought after is that it is a difficult way of life. Don't get me wrong, punk isn't about what you wear. You are not a hard core punk if you dress like a hard core punk, that is just being in part of a fad. The reason being a hard core punk is difficult, and not as a fad, is that whenever you stop following the rules of society and break free of fads people will have a hard time trying to associate with you because you are not following their unspoken rules. I hate fads, mostly because you are following something without knowing exactly what it means. I see a lot of younger people falling into fads but adults also hold to their unknown rules. I believe in trying to escape from these unknown rules and live life without be caught up in fads. That's why I love punk rock, not only is it great music, with a lot of energy but a lot of punk rock speaks of freedom from the common misconceptions that we hold.

You're totaly right about the fad thing Admin! That is one of the biggest reasons I started listening to punk and being a punk, to not follow the fads, and do what I like, and not what OTHER people say is cool. And a wankster is a white gangster or just a poser. White gangsters are also known as: Wiggers, which for racial reasons, I won't say what that is. So to some it all up, they are people that wear G-Unit clothes, Echo, listen to rap, etc.

Is it selling out for a punk band to be aired on MTV? Because I know Fat Mike doesn't like T.V. or radio and hates MTV. But he ended up letting MTV play a video because of some black mail type thing (long story.) But then again, bands that say making videos and such are selling out, yet many of them make clothes, wouldn't that be selling out? I know this is a contaversial (how ever you spell that) subject, yet I want to see people appinions on what is selling out. Personaly I don't think it is, but that is just what I think.

I am also confused on what is considered selling out. I guess when a band is more of a fashion statement instead of a music statement that says,"Fuck you bush," or "No more war," or "Lets drink and have a good time," or the music is just turned to crap with no energy then I would consider the band selling out. I don't think that once your popular or have a music video that your selling out, it is how you present yourself and your liracs, that says whether you are selling out. But I don't watch mtv so I couldn't say for sure what selling out would be.
