What do you guys consider pop punk? I would probably say bowling for soup and blink 182. Is their a lot of pop punk bands on punk4punks? If so what? Do you think pop punk sucks? If so why do you think it sucks?

Hmm.. I think that you're correct P4P on the fact that Blink182 would probably be considered Pop Punk.
To be honest, i find myself asking, could Pop Punk really be called punk? This is where we have to ask what the Punk Genre really stands for.
I think that to be punk you cannot be pop, or popular. Punk isn't about being popular, it's about being yourself. It's about standing up for what you believe in, which is often not popular in mainstream culture. If Punk was popular, I don't think we'd have GW Bush for a president. No offense to any of the republicans on the forum, but that's the truth.
If Punk was about being popular this whole country would be ignited with the flames of anarchy!
If Punk was about being popular Britney Spears would be singing Recipe for Hate.
Face it, Pop-Punk is an oxymoron. It can't truly exist. The real punk is the stuff that wants to destroy pop. Pop is what punk stands against. Blink 182 sold out. The end!

I agree with all of what you just said. Except I still like blink 182 even if they did sell out.
Thanks for listening to our station I love hearing what other people think about punk. It's amazing what different opinions you will hear. For example I had a really big day for the radio and I heard that the station both rocks and sucks within the same hour. It's just to bad you almost never hear real indepth feedback from those listeners.

i hate them all
nowadays there are lots of " fashion punks" which thinks that being a punk is to wear boots like "steel" " grinders" and to wear squared pants

Yeah, i think Pop punk is punk. It's just punx that "popped" up their music to make it main streem and get rich. Look at greenday, theres no arguements that their punk (well there sorta' is with that whole "emo isn't punk thing") but there behaviour is totaly punk! And P4P does have pop-punk on it.

Fuck yeah p4p has emo and pop punk on it. We have a little of everything that has to do with punk rock on our station. Hell we even play some alternative music such as system of a down that has punk rock roots in it. I do agree on one thing:I hate so say it and I will probably sound like a hypocrite but in my opinion punk rock isn't fashion its music, believing a band is a punk band by how they dress is a bad indication that they are punk. Of course that doesn't mean that my opinion is the only true rendition of punk. I just think its sad when punk becomes a fashion and not music.
