What do you think we can do to improve the station?

Hello,
We would like to hear from you. We take all comments very seriously. In fact we probably take some of them to serious Laughing. Regardless of that punk4punks would not be what it is today without feedback from you, the listeners. Please take some time to tell us what we can do to improve or station. For example, you might like to see a chat room on punk4punks. We welcome feedback of any kind and hope that you enjoy the music.

What I'd love to see

I'd love to hear the big cheese, the Big Kahuna of Punk for Punks, speak every once in a while. Maybe a radio show once a week or something. I'd tune in during it, that's for sure.

Perhaps he/she could discuss the things going on with the station, punk in general, and what he/she thought of certain new CDs that came out. Perhaps there could be a poll on the forum and the listeners could vote on what they wanted to hear.

In fact, you should also run a short advertisement for the forum on the station. Just a little 12 second piece.

Also, be sure to tune in to "Punks Place", the once a week radio show, where I, Mr. Host, will speak about the upcoming craze in "insert topic (lets just say banana-punk)". Also, you can buy a whole lot of goodies at Punk4Punks.com! So, be sure to check it out and don't go mainstream!"

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe part of the allure of the station is that their is no commercials or talking. To tell you the truth I feel it is more of an annoyance then anything to hear the same damn commercials played over and over again. But hell it could just be me.

That is a good idea. The only problem though is that we are not set up to play requests. We are really limited that way Sad . Although if you have a song from your band and would like us to play the song in our regular rotation, please send the song as an attachment to punk4punksmail@gmail.com.

i'm listening radio on ma aqq comunicator, cause winamp is blocked for internet, and i don't wanna use wmp, and shits like that

Hey, maybe you could play the station from your site instead of people using windows media player or what ever they use. For example how they do it on www.habbohut.com (I don't play habbo, but i did when I was younger, please don't make fun of me for it.)

Tech Questions

Alkoholix, yeah, we can do RSS. However, if we are going to create this we need to know the specifics of your music player. (So we can see how difficult it will be) Do you have a link to the ma aqq comunicator? I searched around google and couldn't find it.

KitLo, the link you provided has a similar setup to us. (They must have changed it since you last looked, or perhaps I am looking at the wrong spot)

Our problem with serving it from our site (using a player inside a webpage) is that our structure isn't setup to do that. We could split it into two seperate streams (one shoutcast one website) but that would cause bandwidth/technical problems.

What we would have to do is create a phantom shoutcast user and stream that through the site. Not too easy, but it can be done. (I am a geek afterall) On the plus side, it would work through practically all firewalls/ISPs. More research will be put into this.

You don't have to know specification of my player/communicator, cuz AQQ supports standard RSS headers/news /i don't know if a said it correctly/, anyway - all i have to do is paste an RSS link, and it shows on a top of my com.

Well I am glad you found a way to get the song list. There are several ways of getting the playlist but I will leave it to the p4pgeek to solve this issue.

We got only a few people working on punk4punks. We have me who works on the station quite a bit. I listen to music all the time and I work on the forum,site, and station. We have p4pgeek who works on uploads and technical aspects on the station that I either don't want to do or can't, he is the geek. Then we have someone who helps give us technical advice on stuff that most people have no idea about, he is the guru geek. We also have someone who does part of the finances. Mainly we have two dedicated people at the station but we wouldn't have gotten very far without the help of the other two people and of course, we have you guys that listen and make suggestions on how to improve the station. I hope that answers your question.

We are switching the stream to 128kbps. We got a better bandwith plan so we are raising the quality of the stream.
